Minutes of the Fleet 10 Meeting

on April 20, 2002

Elections were held for fleet officers:

Commodore: Jeff Griffin (Also nominated were Steve Ashland, and Chris Wessels)

Fleet Captain: Bill Wilson (Also nominated were Charlie Clemens and Alexander Wessels)

Treasurer/Secretary: Reagan Elsbury (Also nominated was Charlie Clemens.)

Regatta Chair: Steve Ashland

Regatta Vice-chair: Chris Wessels

Fleet 10 dues have been set at $20 for this year. The dues should be paid to me, Reagan Elsbury. I have a listing of who still owes, in case you've already forgotten if you've paid.

The fleet decided that sailors who sail solo will be required to add 50 lbs. of weight to their boats. (For Hobie 16s and up.) There was also discussion about having the 14 sailors round the start buoy instead of the 'C' mark in order to keep their races in closer pace with the rest of the fleets; this needs to be discussed with the race committee to make sure it doesn't interfere with anything.

CLYC races are on both Saturday and Sunday for us this year. Saturday races are 1:30 PM and Sunday races are 10:00 AM. CLYC dues are $150 for us this year, if you don't have a registration form you can register on the website at www.clyciowa.com. Speaking of CLYC races, the 18th and 19th are Tune-Ups and the 1st racing series starts the following weekend(the 25th and 26th.) Also the 1st board meeting is Saturday, May 18 at 9 a.m. at the yacht club building if you are interested in attending.

The CLYC is hosting two regattas this year, the MC Invite and Interlakes. The MC Invite is the same weekend as the Bald Eagle regatta, and the Interlakes regatta is the same weekend as the Old Timers Regatta. So for those of interested in racing those weekends we have somewhere to go. Also there was some discussion about traveling to regattas and the possibility of traveling parties/caravans or whatever you prefer to call them.

We are trying to decide on a good weekend to invite some of the other fleets to sail with us. We also discussed whether there should be a small fee that would be given to the yacht club to compensate for the extra work that would require of the judges.

The next meeting will be held on June 1st after the races at GeJo's restaurant in Clear Lake. Plans are for 4 PM or after the races whichever is later. Chris Wessels will make reservations.

A few website of interest in case you aren't aware of them:

www.hobiecatdivision7.org – The Division 7 web page including the regatta schedule.

www.clyciowa.com – The CLYC home page.

www.catsailor.com – Good catamaran information as well as a classified section.

One last thing, I am working putting all of this information out on the web. These minutes can be found at www.scoobysnacks.org/fleet10/minutes.html. I hope to have fleet, member, and regatta information all put up at this website.

Until next time,

Reagan Elsbury

Fleet 10 Secretary
